The Foundation promotes, above all, Swiss research and training projects in the field of telecommunications and distributed information systems. At the present time, this promotional activity is based on a competition inviting proposals for projects in topic areas selected by the Foundation.

The Foundation is also ready to consider granting financial support to unsolicited extraordinary projects which are of significant relevance to information and communication technology or which make a particular contribution to training.

The Foundation is also ready to arrange grants for significant individual training plans relating to telecommunications technology. Exceptionally, grants may be awarded in other domains where there is a strong case for doing so.
